For best efficiency, and to ensure that you can complete your carving to the best of your ability it is important to keep your carving burrs clean and free of char and debris. There are different ways to keep your carving burrs clean, and some of that depends on if the burr is a carbide, diamond, or stone.

Cleaning diamond burrs requires the use of a cleaning stone. This cleaning stone is abrasive enough to clean out char in the diamond compound, but not so abrasive to wear down the diamond very much.

Steps To Clean The Stone:

To use a cleaning stone you will need the diamond burr placed into the high-speed hand piece.

Turn on your engraver to full running speed.

Lightly tough the diamond burr into the cleaning stone several times.

The diamond burr will become clean very quickly. There is no need to force the burr into the cleaning stone. A light touch is all you need.

You will notice a difference in the color of the diamond burr. But the biggest difference is in the performance of the burr. You will be able to carve more efficiently and with less burning when the diamond burr is clean.
