Identification

Size: 10–12 cm

Color: Grey body, black and white stripes on the throat and chest

Cheeks: Males have bright orange cheeks, females do not

Beak: Bright red-orange


Behaviour

Very active and playful

Lives in groups

Makes soft chirping sounds

Loves to fly and move around the cage


Diet

Zebra Finches normally eat:

Mixed seeds

Vegetables (like spinach, broccoli)

Egg food (specially during breeding)

Clean water always needed


Breeding

Very fast breeders

Lay 4–6 eggs at a time

Baby finches (chicks) hatch in 12–14 days
