Effective Facilitation of Parent Support Groups

In this webinar, participants learned how to effectively facilitate support groups for adoptive, kinship, and foster families.

The session explored why effective facilitation is essential to support group success and prepares you to manage groups for parents and caregivers. Topics covered include logistics, group dynamics and managing difficult behaviors. Presenters also shared specific strategies and techniques to effectively facilitate groups.

Presenters: Barb Clark, parent support coordinator, and Kim Stevens, project manager, from the North American Council on Adoptable Children. Kim and Barb are experienced adoptive parents and parent group leaders and offer training and technical assistance to parent group leaders on core issues in group development.

Audience: New or experienced parent group leaders, staff of public or private agencies that offer parent groups, individuals considering starting parent groups.
