Rompers (1989) Time Attack World Record — 00:30:44:03

The time from the moment I can improve my score (gaining control of Chap) to the point where my score cannot be improved (crushing Gurerin’s heart) is 30 minutes, 44 seconds, and 3 frames.

This single-credit clear of Rompers took me several months (on and off) to route and execute. There are very few resources available for this game, at least on the English side of things, so I’m considering writing a commentary and/or guide to accompany this video. In this attempt, I wasted many seconds keeping myself entertained by crushing enemies and collecting jewels that I don't need to, and I predict that more serious attempts with improved strategies can attain a time under 30 minutes.

I hope to one day be able to call myself the score attack record holder as well. I have worked out a series of strategies for attaining over 2 million points, but I am still optimizing it, and besides the strategies are more precise than the ones demonstrated here. It will be some time before I can invest the hours to challenge this game again.
