"GLOBAL KONKAN",
An initiative of Government of Maharashtra & Konkan Bhumi Pratisthan to promote ART, CULTURE, FOOD & TOURISM of Konkan region of Maharashtra.

As part of Kokan Vision 2020 Kokan Bhumi Pratishthan had decided to celebrate the golden jublee year for Maharashtra with Global Kokan Festival.

Global Konkan Festival 2011 was being held at MMRDA Ground in Mumbai from 24th February, 2011 to 27th February, 2011.

The festival was a conference of prominent persons from the Konkan region. It was being held to find out the ways of promoting the tourism in the region. Through the festival, the organisers try to create more opportunities for the lifestyle of Konkan which are to be promoted on the level of other areas of the country. Overall aim was the promotion of tourism in the area.

The four day festival was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chouhan. Several ministers also attended the inaugural ceremony. Jagjit Singh will perform the expo on the inauguration day. Marathi singers like Rahul Vaidya will perform on the closing day.

The festival was being organised by Kokan Bhumi Pratisthan.
More & more such events must be organised in order to promote the Travel & Tourism industry of INDIA.
