“Movin’ On” for me has always been a tune I play when I want to breathe life into a gathering. It was one of the first songs I wrote when I started working on material for my first album. The uptempo one drop and syncopated bass line for me is what makes this tune. One of my favorite moments is that big build we get when the bridge kicks in on the modulation. The song has this huge blossom and then tightens right back into the guitar solo. As a band, one of the final things that really comes together is subtle dynamics. I learned from watching bands like Ooklan the Moc, Groundation and Steel Pulse that you can really connect with a crowd using energy and dynamics. That’s really the essence of live music, being a part of a journey, and also being able to guide it in a direction. Enjoy this version of “Movin’ On” from our live album “At Home in Hawai’i”
