Cleveland Browns rookie defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr. was arrested following a domestic disturbance Monday night at an Avon, Ohio home involving his girlfriend.

He was booked and will be taken to Avon Municipal Court for arraignment, an Avon police spokesperson told cleveland.com.

The mother of Hall’s girlfriend called Avon police around 10 p.m. to report the disturbance involving Hall and her daughter, who told police she’s his fiancee, according to the police report.

Hall, the Browns’ second-round pick out of Ohio State, No. 54 overall, had some character concerns before the draft, but sources told cleveland.com they involved maturity issues and nothing that the Browns were worried about.

Hall told cleveland.com in May that everything changed for him when his girlfriend gave birth to his son, Mike Hall III — nicknamed Trey — the night before the Sept. 16 Western Kentucky game last season, and it changed everything. Growing up without a father, Hall’s determined to be a great one for his son. His girlfriend also has a daughter of her own.

“That was the day I really became a man,” Hall said. “It’s not about Mike Hall anymore. It’s about my son.”

Hall brought Trey to the Browns facility for his draft day press conference, and will raise him in his hometown.

“I love him to death,” said Hall, who will turn 21 on June 21, the last day of mandatory full-squad minicamp. “I had him right before the game and I stayed in the hospital that night. But ultimately I had a goal and I had an expectation to still be at the game with my brothers. So I left Saturday morning to play the game, but after that, I came right back. He’s my rock besides my mother, how much she’s sacrificed for me. That’s my next rock for sure.”

As for the anonymous pre-draft reports questioning his character, Hall said they were much ado about nothing.

Hall, who was born and raised in Garfield Heights, Ohio before moving to Streetsboro during high school, practiced with the team during the day on Day 12 of training camp. The Browns have an off day today and will host the Minnesota Vikings for two days of joint practices on Wednesday and Thursday.

“We are aware of the incident involving Mike Hall, Jr. last night,” the Browns said in a statement. “Mike and his representatives have been in touch with the appropriate authorities. We are in the process of gathering more information and will have no further comment at the time.”

Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Michael Hall Jr., who was selected in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Ohio State, was arrested Tuesday by Avon Police in Ohio, per ESPN. Cleveland.com reports that the arrest comes after Hall was involved in a domestic dispute involving his girlfriend on Monday night.

The Browns released a statement on the matter, via ESPN:

"We are aware of the incident involving Mike Hall, Jr. last night. Mike and his representatives have been in touch with the appropriate authorities. We are in the process of gathering more information and will have no further comment at the time."

Jason Lloyd obtains the full police report in the arrest of Michael Hall Jr. on Monday August 12th 2024.
