Sky News host Andrew Bolt says India’s reaction to a toolkit shared by Greta Thunberg on how to protest against a recent farming policy is “so sad”.

Ms Thunberg recently tweeted a toolkit sent to her by activists on how to fight the Indian government and protest its changes to free up the farming sector, before taking it down an hour later.

The Indian government was “furious” after Thunberg unwittingly encouraged “outsiders to confront” India, according to Mr Bolt.

“The Indian government was furious because here was Thunberg getting outsiders to confront India, stirring up strife, sending out propaganda accusing this new nationalist nation of genocide, and becoming fascist,” he said.

One of Thunberg’s followers has now been arrested and charged with spreading disaffection with the Indian state.

“This makes me so sad. I always thought India would be an example to China, another a huge country, but one that did believe in democracy and free speech.”
