Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Control Multiple Pivot Tables from One Set of Slicers.

Welcome to the MrExcel podcast, where we bring you the latest tips and tricks for mastering Excel. In this episode, we will be discussing the topic of wiring slicers, a powerful tool that allows you to control multiple Pivot tables with just one click. I'm your host, Bill Jelen, and in this episode, we will be building on our previous dashboard by adding an extra Pivot table. The great thing about slicers is that they can be tied to all Pivot tables in the workbook, unlike Report Filters which used to require a Macro. To do this, simply go to Slicer Options and select Report Connections. In Excel 2010, this may have been called Slicer Connections. From there, you can choose which Pivot tables you want the slicer to control.

If you only have two Pivot tables, you can also use the Analyze tab and select Slicer Connections. This will allow you to connect the Pivot table to the slicer. In our case, since we have multiple Pivot tables and slicers, we will use Report Connections to ensure they are all connected. This allows us to easily update the data in all three Pivot tables just by selecting a value from the slicer.

But that's not all, in tomorrow's episode, we will take this dashboard to the next level by publishing it to the web. This will not only impress your boss, but it will also showcase your skills as a web application creator. You can go to each pivot table and choose Slicer Connections
Or you can get to each slicer and chance the connections
