Can You Beat Creeper World 3 Without Cannons or Mortars?

Creeper World 3 is a tower defense & Real-Time Strategy game where the player is tasked to build a base and defend it from the liquid fluid known as the Creeper, alternatively called Living Tsunami by some. The Pulse Cannon and the Mortar are the first towers you get, and are also by far the most reliable that are also the best in almost all situations. If we prohibited the use of these two towers, how would we survive in the earlier levels of the main campaign especially since nothing else is unlocked!? And even then, we'd need to make best use of the other flawed units if we manage to obtain them...
