Tens of thousands of demonstrators gathered on Istanbul’s historic Galata Bridge in a powerful show of solidarity with the people of Gaza. Organized by the Turkish Youth Foundation and the National Will Platform, the protest brought together more than 300 pro-Palestinian and Islamic organizations. Addressing the crowd, Bilal Erdogan, son of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, described the Gaza crisis as one of the darkest moments in modern history and called for an immediate end to the violence.

The protest comes amid the ongoing Gaza war that escalated after October 7, 2023, when Hamas launched a deadly attack on southern Israel. Since then, Israel’s military response has led to a devastating humanitarian crisis. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, more than 71,000 Palestinians have been killed, figures widely cited by the United Nations and international observers.

Meanwhile, in Eastern Europe, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) revealed details of what it calls a year of “legendary operations” against Russia in 2025. The most notable, Operation Spiderweb, involved long-range drone strikes deep inside Russian territory, disabling 41 military aircraft and causing an estimated $7 billion in damage. Ukraine also targeted Russian oil infrastructure, a submarine in the Black Sea, and the strategically critical Crimean Bridge, severely disrupting Russian logistics and missile capabilities.

As 2026 begins, global tensions continue to rise—from the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza to the high-stakes intelligence and drone warfare reshaping the Ukraine-Russia conflict.
