LEARN how to PAINT HAIR | Airbrush Tutorial Part 3 of 3

PART 3!! Painting portraits in monochrome is a great exercise in value study. Since there are no colors used besides black and white, you get to focus all of your attention on values and how they mold and sculpt the structures of the face. In this third and final part, I'll show you how I painted in the hair. You will notice in this portrait that the black and white mixtures gives this overall painting a cooler temperature than one completed in just transparent black. I will follow this tutorial up with another grisaille just using a transparent black so that you can see the difference between the two techniques. This painting is a 24x18" canvas stretched over a wooden panel, prepared smooth with liquitex super heavy gesso. Thanks for watching!
