Sigmund Freud's Structure of Personality: the Id, Ego, and Superego

Описание к видео Sigmund Freud's Structure of Personality: the Id, Ego, and Superego

This video explains the three components of Sigmund Freud’s structural model of the psyche (personality): id, ego, and superego. These three systems work together and have different characteristics. The id seeks pleasure and avoids pain with no regard for consequences or morality. The ego seeks pleasure and avoids pain, however, it attempts to do so in a realistic manner. The ego mediates the drive of the id with the morality of the superego. The superego is like the conscience. It battles to suppress the id with an appeal to the ego to encourage moral behavior and to abide by societal norms.
