Gateway Classic Cars Houston showroom is excited to present this beautiful black 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe. This all-steel '40 was found in New Mexico by its previous owner, who brought the car to Cleveland, OH to begin the restoration. Having been a southwestern car stored in the low humidity environment in New Mexico, the body was in superb condition before it was completely disassembled for the build, which was begun in the early 1990's. The project plan was to create a grand tourer under a vintage body; something that's ready to cruise the strip, or drive across the country, and it has achieved its goal! The body was media blasted, prepped for paint, sealed, primed, and painted with a DuPont base coat/clear coat system. The original frame was partially boxed, and a 9" Ford third member was installed. The front suspension consists of a Mustang II front end and K-member, outfitted with polished stainless steel control arms and Ridetech coil-over shocks. A chromed power rack and pinion steering system was added to continue the abundance of chrome (and polished metal) look in the engine bay. Under the hood, in addition to all of chromed and polished goodies, lurks a 355HP GM ZZ4 full-roller 350 CID V8, which is plenty potent to have you zipping right along with the rest of the traffic in short order. A GM 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission backs the big V8 and provides good gear ratios for both acceleration and highway cruising. A set of 3.73:1 gears in the rear end help keep the tach needle down at freeway speeds, yet still provide snappy acceleration. Inside, an attractive mauve interior provides an uncommon, yet very attractive color combination to go with the black and silver exterior motif. The fabric seats are trimmed with synthetic leather, and the fabrics and carpet look nearly unused, which says something about how lovingly-kept this car has been, given that it has traveled just over 13K miles since it was completed, including being driven all the way from Cleveland, OH to southern Louisiana when its current owner purchased it. An Alpine AM/FM/CD Radio (with Bluetooth) supplies the tunes for the occupants, ensuring aural entertainment for both. The driver gets a full set of VDO gauges to keep track of things under hood, and a thick-rimmed LeCarra billet aluminum steering wheel (on top of the helpful tilt column) gives both a nice look and provides secure grip when driving. This gorgeous '40 Ford coupe rides on a set of Michelin all-weather radials (P185/65R15 up front, P235/70R15 out back) that have plenty of tread left on them. The sticky Michelins wrap a set of polished aluminum American Racing mags, and the staggered sizes give it an aggressive street rod stance. Four-wheel disc brakes bring this rod to a stop in a smooth hurry, and the red powder-coated calipers add to the visual excitement. Additional features and options on this slick '40 Ford Deluxe Coupe include cold Air Conditioning, Aluminum Wheels, AM/FM/CD/BT radio, Power Locks (poppers/remote), Power Seats, Power Windows, Radial Tires, Remote Hood and Trunk Releases, Seat Belts, Tilt Steering Wheel, and Vinyl/Cloth Interior.
