Lynne Punwani was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer four years ago at the age of 66.

She underwent surgery at a hospital in north Toronto followed by chemotherapy and radiation. Waiting for her grandson to be born was her lifeline.

“No matter how sick I was I would lie in bed and I would say, ‘Ok five more months, four more months, three more months, until he comes. That was my hope that’s how I got through the chemo,’” Lynne says.

Lynne is now doing well and enjoying life with her family and grandchildren.

Even though she wasn’t treated at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, she knows the world-leading research being conducted is shared with cancer experts at hospitals across Canada and is helping patients just like her.
