In this tutorial I will show how to automatically create Shadow Copies of your personal files by using the Task Scheduler. The Shadow Copies of your files, will allow you to revert a specific file or folder to an earlier version (point in time).

The Shadow Copy feature first introduced in Windows Server 2003 and then added to Windows Vista and 7 versions, as a part of the System Restore feature. The 'Shadow copy' process, can take backup copies and snapshots of the current system state and personal files, even if in use. The process of recovering files from the Shadow Copies is more commonly known as "Restore previous versions".

Volume Shadow Copy (also known as Volume Snapshot Service or VSS ) is a technology included in Microsoft Windows. It allows you to take backup copies or snapshots of computer files or volumes whether in use or not. It requires VSS service, VSS requester, VSS writer, VSS provider during the process. And you can do it manually or automatically.

This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 10 operating system (Home, Professional, Enterprise, Education) from all supported hardware manufactures, like Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba,Lenovo, and Samsung).
