Let's Be a Jockey Valet and Saddle a Horse!

This video is from my Panasonic Cube + action camera that was worn on the ball cap of Delta Downs jockey valet Doug Gilbert during the racing program on Saturday, February 18.

The video includes scenes of the jockeys' room at the beginning of the night as track chaplain Alberto Martinez visits the jockeys as the riders gather around to listen. I also shows how the valet's prepare the jockey's tack pre-race and how they help saddle up the race horses before they go to track in the paddock. There are also scenes just after the race as Gilbert unsaddles a horse and takes the jockey's tack back to the room.

I hope you enjoy this peek into the life of a jockey's valet and some of the duties that they perform each race night.
