There STILL are additional props being built including a reproduction of the control panel in the basement that Bellhops use to control the elevator complete with functional buttons and telephone (will ring and play audio and will also play audio in response to handset being lifted). COMPLETED see here.    • Growing functionality of Elevator con...  . As usual thanks to Donald for the tech wizardry. Really am getting close to completion of the entire set. Only remaining work now is placement of the "concrete" slab for the entire room, some further programming of the control panel and fire alarms and gauge panel to animate the gauges. Lastly, no promises, but I am hoping the possibility of making a real elevator interior appear when the elevator doors open becomes reality.

We are researching exciting new special effects including highly realistic lighting effects inside the room and also cold spark technology effects; check back in coming weeks and months.

I am researching the cost and technology of an autonomous robotic Tower of Terror elevator platform for 2-4 people. The goal of this platform is that it could be programmed to rotate, move around inside, and even outside the room, have tactile transducers to simulate the feel of being inside a freight elevator, and pneumatic drops to simulate the elevator dropping. It would have nearly complete control of brightness, surround sound; etc. It would essentially be a blank slate with virtually complete control of the environment around the occupants. It could have motorized "elevator doors" to reveal to viewers what and when we want them to view. It could have "windows," with video panels to show elevator shaft movement, or whatever desired. It could have the walls, ceiling and floor have fiberoptic
"stars" embedded. It could carry onboard its own set of desired props such as fog makers, surround sound, subwoofer, lighting, etc. This robotic elevator car would be in concept and basic technology similar to the robotic vehicles used in the actual ride using magnetic tape on the floor to guide the vehicle. This would be a project in scope, cost and labor on par with all the work done so far over nearly a yr, so I intend to research the technology in greater detail with Donald's assistance, and would want to spend a good amount of time in planning everything out prior to starting a build. Anyway just wanted to fill you in.
