A professional unit, the D4 (1991, made in Japan) features 500 drums sounds, covering the full gamut - great acoustic drum types, electronic drum sounds, orchestral and ethnic percussion sounds and various percussive effects. In addition, 21 programmable drum kits and the D4 has full 16-channel MIDI implementation.

Impressively, the D4 has 12 trigger inputs allowing drummers and engineers to trigger its sounds from acoustic or MIDI pads, as well as any external sound source - from tape or other studio gear.
There are 4 independent outputs for either 4 mono outs or 2 stereo outs.

The circuit bent interface is immense. Countless tones and textures to explore, all within a cleverly designed interface which is designed for highly intuitive, quick-fire bend manipulation.

In this demo, MIDI has been generated externally, and is a selection of basic preset rhythms played via my little humble Yamaha RY-8 drum machine. I simply wanted to demonstrate a small selection of circuit bent tones which can be applied to any internal sound source...

... honestly, there really is so much to explore here - the demo is merely a drop in the ocean. It is genius fun, and WILL shatter your percussive mind into a thousand tiny shards.
