The game's story focuses on Sonic the Hedgehog as he infiltrates a once peaceful mechanized planet. Doctor Eggman, Sonic's arch nemesis uses the planet's time travelling properties to make it his own headquarters. He also has Sonic's robotic counterpart Metal Sonic capture Amy Rose. Sonic the Hedgehog CD, or Sonic CD, is a platform video game developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega. It was initially released for the Sega Mega-CD in 1993. It has since been re-released on Microsoft Windows 9x in 1996 and as a part of Sonic Gems Collection for the PlayStation 2 and GameCube in 2005. An enhanced remake of the game was released on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, iOS and Android in December 2011, and for PC on January 19, 2012 and for Windows Phone on November 14, 2012.
