I put the emphasis on the quality of production and the wholesomeness.
Ideas and meaning mattered still of course.
Ditched disco for a bit and avoided auto-tune.
Bit of Cure (alt rock), bit of Alphaville (synthpop & punk), a bit of VNV
perhaps Oasis, Coldplay too.
