Modals – Necessity

00:00 to 00:26
We use (must and have to) to talk about necessity.
You must try to be calm in an accident.
They are followed by (an infinitive) without (to).
You have to be a good driver to drive an ambulance.

00:26 to 00:48
The negative forms of (must and have to) are must not (mustn't) and do not (don't) have to.
You mustn't put water on a frying pan if it catches fire.
You don't have to be a professional to learn first aid.

00:48 to 1:10
Mustn't means you're not allowed to do something.
You mustn't panic in an emergency.
Don't have to means you can choose whether you do something or not.
You don't have to train as a nurse to do voluntary work for your local ambulance service.
