Employee engagement was lagging in the Research Transplant Institute at Research Medical Center, an HCA hospital in Kansas City, MO. Institute team members scored poorly in the area of taking responsibility for their work which affected morale and communication. Using Crucial Influence Training, leaders identified the vital behaviors required for employees to take responsibility and then applied the Six Sources of Influence [TM] to ensure employees adopted those behaviors. As a result, engagement levels soared. Before Crucial Influence Training, the team’s engagement score was 51 percent. After implementing the behavior-change strategies, the engagement level climbed to 88 percent—an increase of 37 points in just one year. In addition, the score for the hospital as a whole increased 3 percent in just nine months—a major leap in the healthcare industry.
