But when a relationship is fostered in a toxic dynamic (including a toxic family dynamic) where trust, love, and support should be the foundation, anything is bound to happen.

What tends to be most traumatic and toxic is the reality that you may not be able to find a safe place anywhere where you thought you could.

A toxic church family, a toxic relationship built in a spiritual environment, or a mentor-pastor relationship that went wrong could all lead to religious trauma.
