Badvelu constituency in Kadapa district has been a stronghold of TDP since its inception. But the TDP cadre is waiting to see when its past glory will return. The party has been fighting for its existence for the past two decades. Even after the death of Bijivemula Veera Reddy, who turned the wheel of politics in the district, the same family members are still in charge of that constituency, but they keep on winning every time. What has the party done for the party while being in charge for so long, some leaders are insisting that new people should be given the responsibilities of constituency in charge. This has created a rift in the Badvelu TDP. Bijivemula Veera Reddy has won Badvelu in Kadapa district six times and served in NTR's cabinet. He turned Badvelu constituency into his stronghold and became known as Badvelu Veera Reddy. All that is in the past. After Veera Reddy's death, his daughter Vijayamma, who inherited the political fortunes, won the by-election held in 2001 but was defeated by a Congress candidate in the subsequent 2004 elections. It is said that since Badvel became an SC constituency since 2009, the Telugu Desam Party's troubles started from there. Vijayamma continues to be the in-charge of any Telugu Desam Party candidate. Recently, after Vijayamma's son Ritesh Reddy took over the in-charge duties before the 2024 elections, it is said that a war has started in the TDP constituency. As a group insisted on CM Chandrababu Naidu to give the in-charge responsibilities to a new person, the high command's IVRS calls to collect opinions for the post of constituency in-charge have now become a topic of discussion in the constituency. Till now, Vijayamma and her son Ritesh Reddy have been looking after the TDP responsibilities of Badvel constituency. Since the 2009 elections, the high command has been allocating tickets to whoever the Vijayamma family names. However, the Telugu brothers are angry that the party candidate has not won so far.
