In the combat approach also called "Sarajevo Approach" the airplane descends rapidly with landing gear down and fully extended flaps and air brakes from a high altitude in a steep angle and is pulled up just in time for the touchdown to avoid the range of enemy weapons. This landing was used by the Luftwaffe's C-160 in the Bosnian war in Sarajevo, hence the name.
