Megas Gialos is a seaside village located on the south side of the island of Syros and between the settlements of Poseidonia and Vari.

The village has a large beach but also some smaller ones. Hotels and restaurants operate in the area, while a large number of holiday homes have been built.

Next to the beach is the small church of Agios Antonios, while on the opposite side of the bay is the old chapel of Agia Thekla. At the top of the hill above the settlement, there is another chapel, that of Agios Ioannis the Forerunner. Behind Agios Antonios there is a path that leads to the bay of Ambela, where there is a small and quiet sandy beach.
