Light Up Literature™ Curriculum motto: Where Learning and FUN are ONE!

Hello,
and welcome to Light Up Literature™ Curriculum. My name is Debra Shepherd. I am the teacher, as well as the curriculum developer for all of the courses you will see and attend on this site. So here's the thing. What is Light Up Literature™ Curriculum really? It's all about making learning fun, but that doesn't mean we give up on the key part, LEARNING!

That's the core, well, the that's the backbone of this entire curriculum. Whether you're taking U.S. History, the literature classes, the grammar in writing, or doing a self-paced online course, for all of it, we have to have good data, so that we can make sure learning is happening. It's equally important for us to have great learning, as well as having a good time while we're doing it. So that's the entire purpose of Light Up Literature™ Curriculum. That's why I developed it. I'm ADHD. My daughter's ADHD, some of my students, which you will also hear me refer to as kiddos, are ADHD or, maybe they just don't like reading or writing or history. So the best thing to do is make it enjoyable but still take care of business.
That is why I created Light Up Literature™ Curriculum, so that kiddos can learn and have a good time learning, and suck it up when we gotta do things that we don't like, like getting data. So I hope you join us. I hope to see you in our class,, one of our classes or see you enjoying the online curriculum. Either way, I'm here to help you as a parent or a homeschool teacher.

Just take a load off, so that you're not having to carry all of the subjects on your shoulders. At the end of the day, you're still in charge, but I'm here to support you with live classes, fun activities that are all designed to promote learning, and create a safe online environment for learning. So one thing that we also, I am very, very conscious about is online security for our kiddos.

And with that, what that means is that students within the live classes will not be able to message each other. That is a parent decision. If you would like that, you can reach out to me and I can contact another parent. I'll try to help liaisoning that, but students will not be able to message each other privately in class that won't be accepted or available. It won't be an available option.

Also, this isn't a Christian-based curriculum because we all have our beliefs. I, personally, am a Christian, but I personally feel like parents or families need to spend time discussing the values that are important in your family, in your home. And this is a space for education and learning.
And we're gonna talk about a whole lot of things, and discussion is fine. But… We aren't going to, and I won't be presenting from a specific focus or because then you get into, well, what denomination are you, and all of that. And we just don't want any of that to cloud the key point: we want our kids to learn and have a good time in a safe learning environment.

And so that's what I'm here for. And I cannot wait to see you or hear from me. So until then, take care. I hope I see you in September.
