Sad to say the words in my song “Brothers And Sisters” apply again, as they do with every bloody conflict.

“brothers and sisters,
mothers and fathers,
children and sages,
are dying to make a difference”.

My opinion is of little consequence but I feel it’s important to say I stand with Israelis, with my Jewish friends, and also with innocent Palestinians, whether they are Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, atheists, all our brothers and sisters, because basic human rights are non negotiable, non discriminatory, non denominational, apply to rich and poor alike, and in war zones.

I dearly hope all hostages taken by Hamas will be returned immediately. The atrocious events of October 7th require they be held accountable. We have a duty to stand up to bullies and terrorists and those who feel they somehow have a right to do despicable things.

But, as law abiding nations, our response in self-defence must be proportionate and within the guidelines of international humanitarian law. It’s always the innocent about whom we should be most concerned. Two wrongs don’t make a right, and what we are witnessing with so many innocent lives lost is definitely not right.

We must be wiser than those who came before us and find less destructive ways to seek peace. We must stand up for those in a less fortunate position. This is what makes us humane. It’s so important the right people get elected to powerful positions because lives depend on mature leadership with pure intensions. Peace.
