Three awardees of the Creatives Rebuild New York competition from the GLOW region
in upstate New York have collaborated to create an exhibition encompassing their
individual skills in a cross-disciplinary exhibition creating an immersive experience for
the viewer.
From a pool of over 2,700 written applications 98 recipients were selected for the CRNY
program, with $49.9M from the Mellon Foundation provided to fund each artist. These
funds enabled the creation of ‘Dynamic Interpretation’, the exhibition developed in
collaboration by these three artists to enrich the upstate community.
Included in the exhibition:
 Three larger than life-sized sculptures sculptures which are minimal, with
graceful lines and a planar photograph attached, capturing the movement of the
body and costume on each. The sculptures are powder coated a gold-tone, with
a photograph of a brilliantly colored costume swirling in movement lashed onto
the framework. Each sculpture is essentially a tripod that stands on its own.

 A portfolio of photographs from which the final ones were selected for the
sculptures, will be displayed on the walls of the gallery, placed horizontally in a
continual row at viewer height, around the space.

 A computer monitor, playing a video that chronicles the
collaborative process and the making of the sculptures that resulted in the
exhibition.

 A video will be taken of Gaitrie Devi Subryan dancing in the space after
the exhibition is installed, documenting the movements visualized in the
sculptures. This video will be a conceptual part of the exhibition as a
projection.

 Traditional Indian music will be included at the opening reception as part of the
immersive artistic and cultural performance and Gaitrie Devi Subryan will dance
at the opening.
