Jio Effect : Vodafone launch two new plan to counter Jio 509 | Vodafone 458 & Vodafone 509
Vodafone has launched two new plans for its prepaid users, which compete with similarly priced plans from Reliance Jio. Talking about Vodafone’s plans first, the telecom operator has launched a Rs 458 and a Rs 509 plan, both of which offer unlimited local and STD calls, free roaming, 100 SMS per day, and 1GB of 4G / 3G data every day. The only difference between the two being the validity. While the Rs 458 plan is valid for 70 days, the Rs 509 plan comes with a validity of 84 days.

However, every plan has a catch, and so does this one. While the plan has “unlimited” calling, that privilege comes with a limit of 250 minutes daily, and 1,000 minutes in a week. Which means, if your daily calling exceeds four hours daily, it will be charged beyond that. Similarly, total calling exceeding 16 hours in a week will also be chargeable. This cap applies to both the plans.
In comparison, Reliance Jio offers a Rs 459 and a Rs 509 prepaid plan too, both of which offer unlimited voice calling (without any FUP), and 100 SMS per day, and access to various Jio apps. For data, while the Rs 459 plan offers 1GB daily data, the Rs 509 plan offers 2GB daily data.
However, what’s interesting to note here is that with the Vodafone plan, exceeding beyond the daily data cap is chargeable. In case of Reliance Jio, “Unlimited data signifies Daily Limit at High Speed, followed by unlimited at 64 Kbps”. Also, the Rs 459 Jio plan comes with 84 days of validity, the Rs 509 plan has 49 days of validity
