And for years, I’ve been convinced it’s because tattoo ink absorbs more of the sun’s energy… but plenty of people said it was all in my head. So, in this video, I put that theory to the test. Using a thermal temperature reader, I measured the difference between tattooed and non-tattooed skin after direct sun exposure — and the results might surprise you. Whether you’re fully sleeved, heavily tattooed like me, or just curious about how ink reacts in the sun, this little experiment has some real takeaways from it.
