This video describes artificial drainage, with some of its problems. Artificial drainage allows a grower to make a productive field out of soil that is too wet to grow crops. Drainage systems do have negative consequences, including losing wetlands, speeding the flow of water into swollen rivers, and transporting pollutants into rivers and other bodies of water. This is part of the Soils and Fertilizers series.
