Ocha (Osha - Orisa -Oricha - Orisha) Top 40 is back with all of it's skips, stutters, scratches and other imperfections that is on this musical journey. This tape was made for me by a priest who is now in heaven (Craig Ramos - Omo Elegba and Babalawo - Ibae Bae Tonu) but he couldn't tell me where the original was from. LOL! Back in the day (bout 30 years ago), every house you went to and every car you rode in where the people were into Orisa/Ifa, you would hear this tape with all the same imperfections. But search as I have, I have yet to find the original album that this was taken from. I decided to "try and put some words" to the music for those who are new to this tradition, or who just want to know more Ifa/Orisa. Some of y'all just like the songs...the feel...the energy. I GET IT! The music is what initially attracted me to Orisa.

I did the best I could on the lyrics (words), but I'm sure there will be other transcriptions of what is being sung. It...Is...All...Good! Unfortunately, I do not do translations. If you want translations, matter of fact if you want multiple version of these songs and verses, please buy John Mason's book "Orin Orisa". I sell it on Amazon and eBay under the nom de guerre of "Kawokabiosile". This book has gone up in price (retail was $35 for years, but now it is retailing at $50) but it is worth it. The footnotes are worth it. The photos are worth it. Enjoy!!!
