The Stamps Family Charitable Foundation Inc., recipient of the James L. Fisher Award for Distinguished Service to Education. Established in 1986 by Roe and Penny Stamps, the foundation partners with educational institutions to provide scholarships and fellowships for hardworking and talented students throughout the country. The foundation created merit scholarship programs in 2006 at the Stamps' alma maters—the University of Michigan and the Georgia Institute of Technology—and soon expanded to provide similar programs at other universities and colleges. At the University of Virginia, the Stamps Scholarship program supports both undergraduate and graduate students—the Darden School of Business is the only graduate program supported by the program. By the fall of 2014, there were more than 580 active and 150 graduated Stamps Scholars representing more than 40 different institutions throughout the United States. In addition to investments made through their foundation, Penny and Roe Stamps are also active volunteers at their alma maters.
