DARE TO BE DIFFERENT! TRICKY TRIUMPH TR6! 488CI PONTIAC! DAILY DRIVER! HUGE 94MM TURBO! BYRON!

18 year old Eddie Olson fresh out of high school, was out looking for his first car and a little blue convertible caught his eye. The year was 1973 and while most his friends chose camaros or mustangs Eddie dared to be different and purchased this british sports car and drove it for some years before wrecking it late on night. The car suffered major front end damage along with a bent frame and was declared a total loss. Eddie's dream car was always an AC Cobra and he got an idea to turn the TR6 into his own version of it! Starting with a custom built tube chassis, which stretched the original wheelbase 14" he then added 8" to the doors and another 6" to the rear wheel openings. Custom front and rear suspension were added along with dual custom 8 gallon fuel cells which feed into each other and allow for 2 different types of fuel to be used depending on if he's out for a cruise or at the drag strip. The original straight 6 was replaced with a pontiac engine based on a factory 400 block bored 0.035" over with a 4.5" stroke for 488ci. Engine has flat tappet hyd.cam with unported Edelbrock heads, full manual 4L80 trans, Ford 9" with a 3.25 gear and 40 spline axles. The car was turbocharged since 2006 and has gone through various setups with the latest being this Garrett 94mm GT55 based unit running 20lbs of boost. What's amazing is the same short block has been in the car for the last 12 years including the same pistons and rings! Ed has drives the 3000lb car everywhere including in the hot rod power tour (which he drove 900 miles in one day), hot rod's dragweek and more recently with Nathan Shaw's One Guy's Garage Drag Weekend which originates in Minnesota where Ed resides. Now retired and having the car for 48 years, Ed takes the car out just to have fun anymore to hang out with friends and other car enthusiasts but still get's that itch to let that huge turbo eat once in awhile! #triumphtr6 #turbotriumph #british
