Do you know that the need for #impact #test is related to #Thickness of component in addition to the #Design_Min_Temperature for some martials?
In those cases, the Min. Temperature is specified by a letter designation in #table_A-1 of #asme B31.3 and we should refer to Figure: 323.2.2A and Table 323.2.2 to find out the need for impact testing.
In other words, the combination of design minimum temperature–thickness will determine impact test requirement and this is the philosophy behind specifying letter designation for some materials.
