To pay the tax amount of a GST Challan, follow these steps:

1. Visit the GST Portal:
Go to the GST official website.


2. Log in to Your Account:

Use your GSTIN (GST Identification Number) and password.

If you don't have a GSTIN, you can pay under the "Guest Login" option.

3. Navigate to Create Challan:

Go to the Services then Payments then Create Challan section.

Fill in the details, such as the applicable tax heads (CGST, SGST, IGST, or Cess).

Enter the payable amount under each category.

4. Select Payment Mode:
Choose one of the following options:

Net Banking: Make a direct online payment through your bank.

NEFT/RTGS: Generate a challan and pay through your bank using NEFT/RTGS.

Over the Counter (OTC): Pay in cash, cheque, or demand draft at an authorized bank branch.


5. Make the Payment:

If using Net Banking, follow these steps:

1. Select your bank and click Make Payment.

2. Log in to your bank's portal and complete the transaction.

3. After the transaction, download the payment receipt from the portal.

If using NEFT/RTGS, download the challan, and submit it to your bank. You’ll receive a UTR (Unique Transaction Reference) number from your bank, which you must update on the GST portal.

For OTC, take the printed challan to the bank and make the payment. Collect the payment acknowledgment slip from the bank.

6. Download Payment Receipt:

After payment, go to Services then Payments then Challan History.

Find your challan and download the receipt for your records.

Important Points:

Ensure your payment is made within the due date to avoid penalties or interest.

After payment, the amount is reflected in your Electronic Cash Ledger.

CIN (Challan Identification Number) is generated as proof of payment.
