Gaia Theory explained in Tamil

Gaia Hypothesis in Tamil .This video describes the basics of the Gaia Theory. What is Gaia hypothesis? Who proposed Gaia theory? What is the relationship between The Earth and its living things? In 1970's, James Lovelock (who worked for NASA on “life on Mars and other planets”) along with a Microbiologist, Lynn Margulis put forward the Gaia Theory. It is also known as Gaia principle or Gaia Hypothesis. Gaia theory proposes that all the living organisms and their inorganic surroundings on the Earth are integrated closely to make the Earth a living planet. Gaia theory proposed that our planet's habitability was regulated by the presence of life. Gaia theory tells that from the moment life first appeared on Earth it has worked hard to make Earth a more comfortable place to live.

Gaia theory proposes that the Earth is a Gigantic Super Living Organism which maintain its homeostasis. Gaia means “Mother Earth- Goddess of Earth” in Greek. She created the earth, the sky and the sea.
There are many bacteria living in our body in a symbiotic relationship. The bacteria help us in turn we help the bacteria. Similarly, the Earth and its organisms maintain a symbiotic relationship.
More evidence in support of the Gaia Hypothesis can be found in Biogeochemical cycles (Carbon cycle, Sulphur Cycle, Oxygen cycle, Water Cycle etc),
Further, how earth’s atmosphere is formed? how 3.5% of Ocean Salinity is maintained? How is oxygen formed in earth surface? etc. are all the evidences of Gaia Hypothesis. The Gaia Theory offers insights into climate change, agriculture, and other issues of great importance in the fields of System Ecology, Geophysiology and System Science.
