2017 WMDF010 Raymis, Ecuador: ライミス

WMDF regulars will know of Ecuadorian music through our frequent supporters “Sisay” and through this offshoot group “Raymis”. While based on the folk music of Ecuador, the Andes and traditional Latin music, these artists incorporate modern musical elements to result in their own “World Music”. They work in a tradition of cherishing the roots of Ecuador’s traditional music through a new combination of veteran musicians and other Ecuadorian practitioners. Raymis in the native Kichua language means “energetic” or “fun”. WMDF welcomes back the uplifting feeling and strength of this unique South American collaboration.

ライミスは、シサイ（Sisay）のベテランミュージシャンとエクアドルの代表的な演奏者を加え、アンデス伝統音楽を表現するために結成されました。ライミスとは彼らの民族の言語「キチュア語」で、「元気な」または「楽しい」という意味を持っています。南米民族音楽の持つ躍動感と力強さ、そして心に響くような民族楽器の音色で人々の心が元気になるようにとの願いを込めて「ライミス」というグループ名をつけました。
