In this lecture, we will cover Class 8 history NCERT chapter 1. "How, When and Where" (part 1)

In this first part of class 8 history chapter 1, we will study about the architecture and sculpture, agriculture and administration under the Cholas. We will also understand the importance of temples at Thanjavur and Gangaikonda Cholapuram in the Chola rule, and the distinctiveness of the Chola Bronze images. We'll have a look at the agriculture under the Cholas, how river Kaveri was important for this, the new developments in irrigation under the Cholas, and what are sluice gates. Then, we will discuss administration under the Cholas, both at the Ur and a Nadu levels. We will understand the relationship between the a Chola kings and the Vellalar landowners. Lastly, we will study about different kinds of land grants, and especially about Brahmadeya and Sabhas, how sabhas were organised and managed, and also a little knowledge about the Tang Dynasty.
