Such a wonderful song and such a relexed bassline! And Peter Cetera really plays a really wonderful melodic lick in bars 42-43 and in bars 73-74. And the lick in bar 23 is recognized by every bassplayer (at least that’s what I think). It’s the last bar before the Chorus enters.
Furthermore Peter Cetera plays wonderful variations in the maingroove. Listen for instance at bar 31 and 32. I think it’s a wonderful bassline which support the vocals and sometimes support the accents in rhythm for instance bars 88 and 89. And he also plays basslines which are melodies in itself. Listen for instance at bars 99-101.
