Aurë Entuluva (Eldacar's Exile) – Tolkien symphonic/cinematic song by Minstrels of Middle-earth

Описание к видео Aurë Entuluva (Eldacar's Exile) – Tolkien symphonic/cinematic song by Minstrels of Middle-earth

This is the second part of our song cycle of the Kin-strife from the Annals of Gondor, the first part being "Tales of the Kin-strife" (   • Tales of the Kin-strife – Tolkien sym...  ).

The King of Gondor had married a princess of the Northmen of Rhovanion. When their son, Eldacar, succeeded his father, war was afoot—for there were those in Gondor who would not accept a King who was not of pure Númenorean blood.

The uprising was led by Castamir, Captain of Ships. Eldacar, aided by his son Ornendil, opposed the rebels to the end of his strength, but in the year 1437, they were besieged in the city of Osgiliath upon Anduin.

But Eldacar eluded his enemies amid the fall of the city, and he came to his kinsfolk in Rhovanion, where he in his youth was named Vinitharya, a name of his mother's people.

In time, many in Gondor came to hate his usurper, Castamir the cruel. Thus it was that many gathered to Eldacar, Northmen and Dúnedain alike, and in the year 1447 of the Third Age, they marched upon Gondor.

The full tale of the Kin-strife can be found in the Appendix A of The Lord of the Rings, in the section "I The Númenorean Kings".

Lyrics:

A shadow looms on Gondor's shore
Osgiliath is laid in chain
I am Vinitharya once more
They cast aside my regal grace
In shadows deep, I plot their bane
My crown won't become hollow space

They've torn apart my noble claim
Left me in grief, to fan the flame
And sit in the silence, winds die out
My heart will never be in doubt

Exiled in Rhovanion's embrace
Northmen, Dúnedain southwards face
Ornendil slain by Castamir’s hand
From my mother’s realm, I take my stand

Mornië utúlië

Aurë entuluva
Eldacar

Aurë entuluva!

Translations:

• Mornië utúlië "Darkness has come" (Quenya)
• Aurë entuluva "Day shall come again" (Quenya). This was the battle cry of Húrin during his last stand after the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, the Battle of Unnumbered Tears in the First Age. In our depiction, Eldacar alludes to this ancient call to give courage to his men before marching on Gondor.
