How to repair heavily damaged guitar neck - Cracked Ibanez Neck Repair - Dead to shred

I needed a shop guitar. A guitar that could live in the shop that I could access whenever necessary. It couldn’t be a nice guitar though. Everything I keep in the shop rusts, gets covered in sawdust and endures extreme heat, humidity and cold. It would have to be a guitar that has no value.
I found this made in China Ibanez Gio on eBay for $61 dollars. It was brand new but had been dropped at some point. It came in the original box, had all the accessories and even came with the little bag of candy that Sweetwater puts in all their shipping boxes. My plan was to give this broken guitar a 2nd life. I assessed the damaged and learned there were stress cracks at each tuner hole. The drop not only cracked the neck at the scarf joint but also cracked each tuner hole. I flooded the stress cracks with thin CA glue and clamped it over night. After that I was able to adhere the headstock back to the neck. I highly recommend surgical tubing. It is such a versatile tool. Once the glue cured, the neck was done. I could have easily stopped there and called it a day. But I went one step further and routed channels over the scarf cracks and glued splints in. I carved the splints with a whittling knife and sanded them to meet the neck profile.
I didn’t care for the black and red color scheme so I used a rattle can and sprayed the body green. I sprayed the red pick guard black and sprayed the knobs pink. For the neck, I masked off everything except the red binding and sprayed it pink as well. I used an acrylic paint marker to hand paint the shark tooth inlays pink. From far away it looks pretty good. To spray the pickup up bobbins, I just masked off the pickup and used small round magnets to mask the pole pieces. It plays very well. I didn’t have to do a fret job on it. The bridge pickup sounds really good. It has a very nasal-y mid-range modern metal tone. Neck pickup is too dark but it will do. Next time you see this guitar it will be hanging on the shop wall near my shop amp.
