Another ancient Greek fable today, the classic origin story of the spider, wherein a woman of low birth but considerable skill bests the Goddess Minerva (Athena) at her own game (and epically calls out the Gods for their deception and abuse of mortals), only for the capricious Goddess to curse her opponent in a fit of rage. Like a fine tapestry, many interpretations and angles can be applied to this work; the hubris of Arachne for her refusal to bend to the powers that be, the egomania of Minerva as representative of the Gods' selfishly demanding credit for all marvels in the world (and the disproportionate punishment they mete out to those who manage to show them up), or even the censorship of art at the time depicted allegorically. Sometimes, even when you win, you still lose...
