NY Knicks News: The Kevin/Mitchell Show continued in full force as the Knicks’ two 2018 draft picks did their thing for a second straight summer league game despite a down-to-the-wire 90-85 loss to the Jazz.

On the day he signed his contract — a four-year deal that could be worth up to $6.4 million — 7-foot rookie center Mitchell Robinson again was a menace in the paint and racked up a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds to go with two blocks.

Not bad for a second-round pick who still is trying to round into game shape after a 14-month layoff from competitive basketball.

Kevin Knox, after a 22-point debut, put up 19 points after a poor-shooting start. The Knicks’ lottery pick continued to draw fouls in spades and got hot from the 3-point line in the second half. But his shot went in and out on a 3-pointer with 12 seconds with the Knicks down four, ending their comeback. Knox finished the night 5-of-15 but made 7-of-8 free throws.

After starting the game 1-for-7, Knox came on in the second half, banging in two straight 3-pointers and getting down the lane for another tomahawk jam.

In one moment that could bode well for the future, Knox missed wildly on a penetration, but Robinson was underneath for the rebound and dunk.

After a quiet five-point summer league debut, second-year point guard Frank Ntilikina was more aggressive from the start, piling up 13 of his 17 points in the first half. Ntilikina also had six assists.

Allonzo Trier, signed to a two-way G-League contract, struggled with his shot, going for 15 points despite shooting 4-of-16. [via NY Post]
