Police respond to two-tier policing claim after Birmingham violence

West Midlands police have responded to claims of two-tier policing after violence broke out in Brodesley Green, Birmingham. A group of mostly Asian men attacked a pub after false rumours of a far-right rally spread online.

Some have criticised West Midlands police for their apparent absence from the area during the disturbance.

A video from the incident showed a mob confronting a lone white man on a terrace of the Clumsy Swan in Yardley. They could be seen punching him to the ground and repeatedly kicking him. Seconds later the man who threw the first punch held back the gang and the attack stopped, leaving the victim, in his fifties, on the ground.
