During a 2016 artist residency at Headlands Art Centre, Sausalito, California, Phil Dadson converted 961 Field Rd, into an experimental instrument-cum-performing space.
Introduced sonics included long metal rods, wooden dowels & long wire zithers installed directly into floor and wall surfaces, 'Ring-Rung' an adapted wooden ladder, and 'Tonethrone' a modified rocking chair incorporating tuned percussion and clashing cymbals operated by long wires attached front and back to the rocker action in centre space. Added to this are Dadson's own invented instruments, Gloop-string-spring-drum, ostifans, glissflutes, song/stones and more, for a series of solo performances recorded on video/audio.

961 is just a short trip over the Golden Gate bridge and so also became a meeting point for a series of improvisations and recordings with fellow instrument builder/performer Tom Nunn & electric-bassist Paul Winstanley (recording release with Rattle Records in the pipeline), and later for a duo event with sound artist Aki Onda.
