These wolf-like yokai follow you in the mountains at night, and if you unluckily trip and fall, they swarm and eat you alive. But they are loyal to their rule that they can only eat humans who trip and fall, so if you accidentally trip but you go like, “I am not falling. This is my segue into my resting position,” then, they won’t eat you.

送り犬 translates to Escort Dogs because they often end up escorting you all the way to your house. But if you safely get home, you must make sure to toss one of your sandals at them as a thank-you gift because the value of your life and the sandals you’re wearing? Totally equal.
