The Uganda Police Force has maintained a heavy deployment at the residence of Bobi Wine following a raid carried out after the recent election. Despite growing public concern, the police have indicated that they are not planning to withdraw from the property.

During an appearance before the Public Accounts Committee, senior police officials were questioned about the reasons for the continued deployment and when they intended to vacate Bobi Wine’s residence. In their response, the officials stated that the officers were stationed there to provide security. This explanation drew criticism, particularly because the police themselves had previously been accused of vandalizing property at the residence. Nevertheless, the officials maintained that their presence was intended to prevent further vandalism.

They also stated that the police would only leave the premises if and when Bobi Wine—whom they claimed was in hiding from the same security forces—returned to his home. Critics argue that this situation represents a serious violation of Bobi Wine’s rights and reflects broader concerns about governance under the administration of Yoweri Museveni.

In addition to the deployment at the residence, the police have reportedly established roadblocks and have been conducting vehicle searches in an effort to locate Bobi Wine and arrest him.

This situation has sparked debate among observers and commentators regarding the rule of law, civil liberties, and the conduct of security forces in Uganda.
